Oak Lawn-Hometown School District selects ScootPad district-wide after a brief yet very successful trial

San Jose, CA – June 16, 2015 – ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform for grades K-8, announced today that Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 selected ScootPad to provide individualized learning for all K-8 students district-wide.

Recently, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District transitioned to a standards-based system of reporting on students’ performance and progress and was in need of a platform that could fit the bill. The district was first introduced to ScootPad in late March of this year when they rolled out a district-wide trial across all K-8 schools to test out ScootPad as a solution for their needs. Less than three months into the trial, Oak Lawn-Hometown was convinced enough to go ahead and purchase ScootPad district-wide as their preferred platform for personalized and standards-based learning.

“We were immediately impressed with both the adaptive nature of the platform, as well as the depth and breadth of data available to our teachers. We strive to provide our students with ‘What they need — when they need it,‘ and ScootPad has helped us do just that. In our piloting process, we received feedback about the ease of use of the platform. Instructional staff enjoyed the adaptive nature of the learning paths, but also appreciated the ability to specifically assign practice in particular areas for particular students.” said Joseph Macchia, CIO of Oak Lawn-Hometown SD 123. “We felt that ScootPad should be made available to all teachers and students throughout our district. Classroom teachers may not immediately see the need for a platform like ScootPad. However, as more and more staff members used ScootPad with their students, the value of such a robust platform for practice made itself very apparent. We began to see organic usage sprawl across our classrooms and schools and we didn’t want the purchasing cycle to slow down being able to offer ScootPad to our students and families.”

“We extend these trials to schools and districts because we know they are going to like the results. We’re pleased that, as with other districts, Oak Lawn-Hometown had a quick and easy implementation that allowed them to purchase ScootPad district-wide.” said Bharat Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO of ScootPad. “We welcome other schools and districts to experience ScootPad and see it for themselves.”

Through trials and strategic partnerships like this, ScootPad’s adaptive learning platform is used by one in three U.S. schools, including some of the largest school districts, and serves over two million K-8 students.
