ScootPad Signs Student Privacy Pledge

San Jose, CA – January 5, 2016. ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform, announces today that it has signed the Student Privacy Pledge alongside with 200 other education companies to ensure the protection of student data.

The Pledge was introduced by The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) to safeguard student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information. ScootPad processes student information to provide the most personalized learning for its students and intends to use the data for such purposes only. To reaffirm its commitment in keeping student data safe and secure, ScootPad joins other notable K-12 technology pioneers such as Google, Apple and Microsoft in signing the Pledge.

In a nutshell, by signing the Student Privacy Pledge, ScootPad and other service providers are accountable to:

  • Not sell student information
  • Not behaviorally target advertising
  • Use data for authorized education purposes only
  • Not change privacy policies without notice and choice
  • Enforce strict limits on data retention
  • Support parental access to, and correction of errors in, their children’s information
  • Provide comprehensive security standards
  • Be transparent about collection and use of data.
