ScootPad launches edNexus.io platform with advanced adaptive learning capabilities

San Jose, CA – February 16, 2017. ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform, today announced the general availability of the edNexus.io platform, offering a truly personalized learning experience powered by advanced adaptive capabilities.

It all started in 2015 when a team of 40+ educators, engineers and curriculum developers got together to re-imagine personalized learning based on research-driven best practices and lessons learnt from their first generation adaptive platform. After a successful development cycle followed by an extensive pilot testing, today ScootPad announced the general availability of their 2.0 features to all users.

“Personalized Learning is a popular edtech buzzword, used by many curriculum and learning management systems alike. They merely offer teachers the data and tools to manually personalize learning for each student. It’s not practical as well as ineffective for a teacher to personalize learning for each student consistently and continuously.” said Bharat Kumar, CEO & Co-Founder of ScootPad. “A true personalized learning tool will respond to a student’s interactions in real-time by automatically providing the student with the most appropriate content. Only data-driven adaptive algorithms can deliver personalized learning effectively, affordably and at scale.”

ScootPad’s newly released 2.0 platform enables a fully-automated adaptive learning process while empowering teachers with insights and tools to adjust instruction and deliver timely interventions. Some of the key capabilities of the 2.0 platform include:

  • Knowledge Map driven learning progression
  • Spiraling and Spacing for more robust encoding of information and better long-term retention
  • Real-Time Content Scaffolding to deeper content and prerequisite concepts
  • Depth Of Knowledge (DOK) leveled content to more accurately deliver rigor
  • Technology Enhanced Items (TEI) to more accurately measure student knowledge compared to traditional formats
  • Just-In-Time instruction with both on-demand and time-out lessons
  • Truly Personalized Diagnostic to quickly and accurately assess student proficiency in concepts and
  • Automatic Mastery Checks to ensure students retained knowledge from previously practiced concepts.

“Our adaptive learning platform is now available for our partners to enable personalized learning for their students using the new web service APIs.” said Maya Gadde, CTO & Co-Founder of ScootPad. To learn more, please visit http://edNexus.io.

Allesandro Elementary School was an early-adopter school from L.A. Teachers have the ability to assign and modify student assignments for both class and homework. Parents also have access at home so they can work with their kids. ScootPad has become an important tool in the success of our students.” said Lynn Andrews, Principal, Allesandro Elementary School. “What has probably been the most surprising part is the willingness of the ScootPad team to take our feedback and make improvements swiftly. On behalf of the entire Allesandro team, here’s a big Thank You to ScootPad and the team behind it.”

Fort Gibson students demonstrate significant gains in Math & Reading with ScootPad

San Jose, CA – June 9, 2015 – ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform for grades K-8, announced today that Fort Gibson Public Schools renewed their ScootPad Site License for two more years, driven by significant gains in student achievement in both Math and Reading during the 2014-2015 school year.

Fort Gibson implemented ScootPad to deliver 1:1 learning for students at their Early Learning Center and Intermediate Elementary Schools in the 2014-2015 school year. State Department of Education-led tests demonstrated significant student gains in both Math and Reading scores, prompting Fort Gibson to renew their ScootPad site license for two additional years. Also, impressed by the results, Fort Gibson administration mandated ScootPad to be part of their daily blended instruction for all students starting next school year.

“We are very pleased with our experience using ScootPad. We had previously participated in a program through our State Department of Education called Think Through Math. This year as part of that program, we were asked to participate in an additional test that would see how our students compared nationally in math. Our students scored very well. The test was taken in the fall and the spring. One classroom alone showed a 180 point gain. When we asked our teachers who showed the most gain and success on the test what they were doing, we found that those teachers used ScootPad math as part of their daily blended instruction time. Every student in our district has a device as part of our district 1:1 initiative. Our elementary students (k-5) use ScootPad as an integral part of their virtual instruction using their own devices. They communicate with their teachers and receive assignments and practice through ScootPad.” said Cheryl Hill, District Curriculum Director.

“Our state has a high stakes reading test for 3rd graders. They must pass in order to be promoted to 4th grade. ScootPad is a consistent part of the reading instruction and is used faithfully by our Title I reading specialist. For the second year in a row, 100% of our regular Ed students have passed the test. Our results with ScootPad have been so incredible that our Intermediate Elementary principal is now requiring all students to complete one ScootPad Math and one ScootPad Reading lesson each day starting in the fall.” Cheryl Hill added.

“We’re pleased and humbled to see ScootPad delivering measurable impact and helping Fort Gibson students reach their full potential,” said Bharat Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO of ScootPad. “We are also very excited to partner with Fort Gibson in the coming months and years as we continue to roll out our platform’s new and extended capabilities.”

Through partnerships like this, ScootPad’s adaptive learning platform is used by one in three U.S. schools, including some of the largest school districts, and serving over 2 million K-8 students. ScootPad announces LTI compliance to enable seamless integration with LMS/SIS Systems

San Jose, CA – May 28, 2015 – ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform for grades K-8, today announced LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) integration availability on the ScootPad platform supporting both 1.x and 2.0 specifications. This integration enables users to simply click a button/link and seamlessly launch ScootPad from within their LMS/SIS systems.

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a standard from IMS Global Learning Consortium that enables learning platforms to easily integrate with learning applications providing a seamless end user experience. In LTI these learning applications are called Tools (delivered by Tool Providers such as ScootPad) and the LMS, or platforms, are called Tool Consumers.

With LTI integration between a LMS/SIS system and ScootPad, administrators, teachers and students can automatically a) Get an account on ScootPad with the appropriate role b) Sign into ScootPad with 1-click (no separate username or password) c) Enroll into classrooms and much more…

“With this integration, both students and teachers will be seamlessly logged into ScootPad if they’re already logged into their existing system. We believe that the more convenient we make it for students, the more quickly and efficiently they will learn.” said Maya Gadde, Co-Founder & CTO of ScootPad. “We look forward to partnering with several districts in the coming days and weeks in helping them easily on-board teachers and students while driving deeper integration and enhanced user experience.”

Learnathon Challenges On ScootPad Help Drive Student Competition

San Jose, CA – March 9, 2015 –  ScootPad, a leading adaptive learning platform for grades K-8, announces the weekly learnathon challenges building from ScootPad’s success with the leaderboards. Learnathon challenges are a simple way to get students excited and motivated about learning.

ScootPad introduced the global learnathon as a platform for schools and districts to compete for a spot in the top 100. Each learnathon challenge runs weekly from Monday to Sunday propelled by the number of problems solved correctly by students. Winners celebrate their success every Monday morning with awards and spotlight on ScootPad. The very first learnathon winner at the district level was Huntsville City, taking the #1 spot for both Math and ELA, while the American School of Guatemala took the #1 spot in Math and Fort Gibson Elementary School took the #1 spot in ELA at the school level.

Working to contribute to leaderboards as an individual, classroom, and as a school, students will collaborate to achieve more. Within each school, students work hard and persevere as a team to see their classrooms win a spot in the top 3. Students will build their confidence and ability by rising in the ranks, while learning and mastering concepts the entire time.

“Learnathons are powered by our gamification engine designed to motivate students by making the learning process visual, competitive, and fun.” said Bharat Kumar, Co-founder of ScootPad. “We’ve created a non-stop learning environment where students thrive as individuals and as a team, ultimately resulting in more learning.”
